FRIENDS  / FAMILY 2021

Friends and Family 2021 is a collection inspired by members of the community that highlight the diversity of people and how individuals from all walks of life with unique interests, careers and hobbies turn to jewellery as a way of self expression.

Each ring of the Friends and Family 2021 collection is inspired by and named after individuals who are important to Nick’s Jewellery and have a special story to tell. Each ring is representative of the diverse community that Nick’s Jewellery has continuously been a part of. We “HOPE” that each individual can find a piece of themselves represented in the collection. Our goal is to connect communities and people through jewellery. We believe jewellery is an important form of self expression and Nick’s Jewellery is proud to be a part of the stories that are being told by those who wear our pieces.

Our very first lookbook is dedicated to our beloved pet Hope, we miss you and love you.

"I have been working for TD Canada Trust for about 3 years and a half. I work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis, making sure their financial needs are met and taken care of."

"Aside from spending most of my days working, what I enjoy doing during my free time is spending it with my family and friends as much as I can. Being born and raised in Toronto my whole life, I find new ways to appreciate the city. I love going out to try new restaurants and exploring new parts of downtown."

"Because I spend so much of my time catering to clients at work, I make an effort to set aside time to cater to myself. And this is where my passion for health and fitness becomes relevant. As I get older I take pride in prioritizing my health and fitness. Staying active and working out has become one form of therapy I have grown to treasure heavily. Being outdoors and going for walks with my dogs is also another way I like to relieve stress and appreciate nature."

What are you passionate about?

"I thought of what brings me joy and what drives me to wake up every morning. The true answer to this is being able to help and uplift others. I take a lot of pride in being the person someone can really rely on. I enjoy knowing I can be that person, a friend or family member can call about anything and everything."

"I want to be that person that is so comfortable being herself that when you are around me, you can authentically be yourself as well. To be completely comfortable with myself I also had to be passionate about my personal growth. Of course, I am still learning so much about who I am as an individual, but this whole learning curve is teaching me to understand and appreciate the person I am becoming. In that process if I can help someone learn to appreciate his or her true selves, then I feel like I am living my purpose and it means a lot to me."

"There was a time of my life where Hope was a dog that meant a lot to me. I had gotten really close to her and treated her like she was my own. Being 100% a dog person, just like with any other dog, I get attached pretty easily. So when I heard Hope was sick, my heart had sunk and refused to believe the bad news.

Growing up, I was always drawn to dogs and begged my parents to have our own. Something about dogs’ loyalty and their signs of unconditional love pulls at my heartstrings. A type of connection you really can’t replace and is unique to every dog in my opinion. Hope was very selective with who she allowed around her without being aggressive, and I will never forget the first time I met her.

When she was diagnosed with a failing liver and later on a form of cancer, I knew we were racing against time to cherish the period we had left with her. The day she left us, I had a really hard time pulling myself together because of how hard it was to say goodbye to a sweet dog that had such a loving and silly character. The memories I had with her have taught me the value of time, and to cherish the people and things in your life. When I look at my two dogs now – Finn and Leo, I can’t help but get a little emotional. But instead of being sad thinking about the possibility of losing them one day, I try to make the best memories I still have with them. So this ring being named after Hope is a beautiful ode in memory of her. I wear it as part of my everyday jewelry lineup, so she will always be close to me and in my heart. RIP my sweet Hope – Finn, Leo and I miss you everyday. I know you’re watching all of us from doggy heaven eating all your favorite treats."
